Our Valentine's Week - Nasz walentynkowy tydzień

~Antek is 17,5 moths old~

Welcome again to Tot School and our Montessori Monday post. Those who read our post for some time may notice that we have been drifting to Montessori method more and more each time. I am glad to inform that me and my husband have made a decision to enroll me on a Montessori training ;-) I’m so happy about it ;-). The more I get to know this method the more I become enchanted by it. Well, it doesn’t mean that we are going to eliminate our tot school activities. I do believe that each person has to find a balance between methodologies he gets in contact with and pick those elements that they find important and worth incorporating ;-).

Below you will find a collection of our Valentine’s Day activities.

We started the V-Day feasting by decorating our branches with felt hearts. The boys we really proud of their work. I personally like the invigorating red color. Each time I entered the room the bouquet made me smile ;-)



The boys also help to make and decorate the Valentine’s cookies.






The pouring activity was originally prepared for my older son ( he asked me to provide him with one ;-) But Antek couldn’t resist. I know that there is a fixed order in which pouring activities should be presented. I just haven’t yet figured out how to separate the activities for my boys ( we do not have much space ;-( ). In fact, Antek had a great time with this activity. He spent with it at least 30 minutes each time.



He modified this activity a little bit by pouring the robin beads into the indented plate.



… and transferring them back with his fingers.



This activity was not a hit. He was supposed to transfer the red apples by the ribbon into the indentations in the plate. He did it once or twice.



He preferred to transfer the robin beads. I guess their texture was much more interesting.



Matching Valentine’s Cards. Antek loved to match them as much as he loved to put them in and out of this little rattan trunk. The activity was inspired by the author of the Leptir blog. If you are looking for fine Montessori activities this is a place to find them.



I found this cute little boxes in our local craft store. Antek loved to match the lids to the boxes. I add some hidden surprise for him ;-)



Each boxed contained a little Valentine’s element : red pompons, a red feather, silver wooden hearts, wooden mini cloth pins with a felt heart. The feather was definitely his favourite. Especially after his brother showed him how to blow it and make it float in the air.



Although, Antek is doing really well with carrying a tray. He decided that a rattan basket is a much better container for all his boxes.










This activity originated from my unfinished project. I was going to prepare a button heart snake for Antek but due to this terrible cold I was feeling really terrible. I hope I will finished it soon. Still we had a lot of fun with it.



We did some pattern activities. I feel that Antek is slowly getting the idea behind it ;-).



He sorted them by color



I called a color of the heart and hi picked it up. He mastered the colors really well.




We also played a simple game- I asked him to put a certain heart on particular part of his body. We did this activity both in Polish and English. Definitely a hit.



Antek likes to observe while his brother is preparing different projects for his kindergarten. This week Kuba was using a puncher to make a heart collage. I decided to prepare a tray with a puncher and color paper for Antek too. He did this activity several times during each day.



Another pattern activity.



I love the moments in which my older son is presenting and explaining activities to Antek. Antek seems to be more engaged in Kuba’s explanations then in mine. I think this is a great opportunity to strengthen a lifelong brother bond





Valentine’s Puzzles



Yesterday we woke up to see this beautiful blanket of snow again.








Well I almost forgot. We have a new favourite family treat. A jelly. Here in Valentine’s color.

Tot School - week 7

~Antek is 17,5 months old~


Welcome warmly to our seventh week of Tot School. / Witamy serdecznie w kolejnej odsłonie Tot School.
Last week I prepared for Antek some activities and games connected with weather theme. Unfortunately, another cold and the teething pain (Antek is a proud owner of 12 teeth and 4 more on the go) had been effectively thwarted our plans. However, “what is delayed is not lost”, so we’re hopefully going to do our weather theme just after the Valentine’s Day theme. Despite the change of our plans we had a great week. We had a lot of time for cuddling, pretend play, meeting with our friends and family and of course hours of reading time. Below you will find the activities I managed to catch with my camera./ Na ten tydzień przygotowałam dla Antka ćwiczenia i zabawy związane z pogodą. Niestety kolejne przeziębienie i ból związany z ząbkowaniem ( Antek jest dumnym posiadaczem 12 ząbków i jeszcze 4 nie do końca wyrżniętych trójek) skutecznie pokrzyżował nam plany. Ale „co się odwlecze to nie uciecze” tak więc temat pogodowy przesuniemy i mam nadzieje że już w pełnym zdrowiu zrealizujemy po temacie walentynkowym. Mimo zmiany planów bawiliśmy się wspaniale. Mieliśmy dużo czasu na przytulanie, wygłupy, spotkania z przyjaciółmi i rodziną i oczywiście czytanie tak ukochanych przez Antka książek. A oto co udało mi się w tym tygodniu utrwalić na zdjęciach.


This week Antony’s favourite activities, which he performed with pure delight, were related to opening and closing containers of various shapes and sizes. Here, he is playing with new mathematical puzzle of his older brother. He was interested in them no more then 10-20 seconds, while the opening and closing the box entertained him for over 15 minutes. In fact, this is a great exercise to strengthen finger and hand muscles. / W tym tygodniu Antoś z lubością oddawał się wszystkim czynnościom związanym z otwieraniem i zamykaniem pojemników różnorakich pojemników. Tutaj próbował swoich sił z nowymi matematycznymi puzzlami swojego starszego brata. Puzzle zajęły go tylko przez jakieś 10-20 sek., natomiast samym pudełkiem bawił się ponad 15 min. W gruncie rzeczy to świetne ćwiczenie usprawniające mięsnie palców i dłoni.





Although it is difficult to deduce from my son's facial expression, the new wooden train, which was a gift from my sister in-law, became a big hit this week;-)./ Mimo, że trudno to wywnioskować z miny mojego synka, nowy drewniany pociąg, który otrzymał w prezencie od mojej szwagierki stał się hitem tego tygodnia ;-).









Antek’s second best activity was and still is pouring, spooning and transferring with his fingers all kinds of solids from one container to another. Control of error works great in this case. When he spills some elements he is able to restore the order immediately to the great satisfaction of his mother;-). / Kolejną ulubioną zabawą Antka było i nadal jest przelewanie, przesypywanie, przekładanie łyżką i paluszkami wszelkiego rodzaju ciał stałych z jednego pojemnika do drugiego. Kontrola błędu świetnie się u nas sprawdza. Antek jak tylko coś się wysypie błyskawicznie po sobie sprząta ku wielkiemu zadowoleniu swojej mamy.













This week Antek learned to open and close cloth pins. The direct Effect of mastering a new skill is such that the hanging of laundry now takes much more time;-). / W tym tygodniu Antek nauczył się samodzielnie przypinać klamerki. Do tej pory z uporem maniaka rozkładał je na części. Skutek opanowania nowej umiejętności jest taki, że wieszanie prania zajmuje teraz dużo więcej czasu ;-)





Additionally, he managed to sort the cloth pins according to their color. I guess the discrimination of colors is now a piece of cake for him. ;-). Dodatkowo udało mu się posortować wszystkie klamerki kolorami. Myślę, że rozróżnianie kolorów to teraz dla niego „bułka z masłem” ;-).





Opening and closing the bottle cup – definitely a hit. / Zakręcanie i odkręcanie nakrętki butelki po wodzie – zdecydowany hit.




Scribbling with Oil Pastels. I love their juicy, intensive and vibrating colors. W tym tygodniu do rysowania wykorzystaliśmy pastele olejne. Uwielbiam ich soczyste intensywne i wibrujące barwy – Antkowi też przypadły do gustu ;-)







Practical Life. We started practicing the hand washing procedure. Antek just loves to wash his hands. Sometimes I have a feeling that he gets them dirty on purpose ;-) / W sferze umiejętności praktycznych intensywnie ćwiczymy samodzielne mycie rąk. Jest to jedna z ulubionych czynności Antosia. Czasami odnoszę wrażenie że specjalnie brudzi ręce byle tylko kolejny raz je umyć.






His first experience with paint. We decided to paint a rainy day ;-) / Pierwsze doświadczenie z prawdziwymi farbami plakatowymi. Postanowiliśmy namalować deszczowy dzień. ;-)





Another opening and closing activity./ Kolejna zabawa z otwieraniem i zamykaniem pudełek.








The whole last week Antek managed to feed himself at dinner and drink unattended without spilling. Hurray!!!! Finally we have some progress in this field./ Cały zeszły tydzień Antoś posilał się w czasie obiadu samodzielnie i samodzielnie pił z kubka nic przy tym nie wylewając. Hurra !!! Wreszcie jakiś postęp;-)




We also continued to practice :
- the continent related activities,
- main body organs,
- Doman Red Dots,
- Movable alphabet activities,
- Helen Doron’s BBS .

W tym tygodniu kontynuowaliśmy także:
- zabawy z mapą,
- główne organy ludzkiego ciała,
- Domanowski program nauki matematyki,
- zabawy z ruchomym alfabetem
- angielski (Helen Doron BBS)
