In August 2011, I was announced the lucky winner of Karen Tyler’s giveaway hosted by Sunrise Learning Lab. From that day on my understanding of the Montessori Method and its implications to life has broaden immensely. I had a chance to meet, though virtually, one of the most passionate and engaged teacher and mentor – Karen Tyler. A person of great heart and open mind who for many of us is a source of great inspiration. Her knowledge and experience that she so willingly share with her students is astonishing. It’s an honor and great privilege to announce today ( I’m so touched and excited at the same time) that Karen has generously offered to one of my reader one seat in her well-known on-line training program, including all 12 albums . This may be a great chance for you and your family!!!
“The beauty of this Pre-Primary course (2-6 years old) is that you can access the information from a group site any time during the day or night to download the presentations/lessons to add to your manual/album. You don't need special software in order to participate. There isn't a time limit or assignments that are due so there isn't any pressure
The entire course runs for 24 months and covers 12 albums. You will cover the 4 major subject areas :Practical Life, Sensorial, Language and Mathematics within the first 8 months.
You may take an option called FAST TRACK. This is the same as the 24 month course but it is completed within 12 months.
• Practical Life,
• Sensorial,
• Language,
• Mathematics,
• Physical Science,
• Ecology,
• Geology,
• Botany
• Zoology,
• Geography,
• History,
• Astronomy.
All of the albums are written for the 2-6 year old age group and are included in the course (10 out of the 12 albums extend their subjects out through lower elementary). The albums are complete with step by step presentations. For example, the Practical Life Album has 346 pages of lessons and dozens of pictures you can copy in our on-line photo album! Each album comes with its own set of Student Tracking Forms which make it easy for you to chart the progress of each child.
During this course, you will get to know what it means to follow in the footsteps of Maria Montessori. You will be guided by Karen as you discover and continue to grow into this “peaceful” way of living. We will be studying topics such as:
• Historical Introduction to Maria Montessori
• The Montessori Method – Book Study (free e-book used on-line)
• Montessori Philosophy
• The Absorbent Mind
• Development of Imagination and Creativity
• Development of the Intelligence and Will
• Differences between Traditional and Montessori Schools
• Classroom Management
• Children’s Behavior
• Emotional Growth
• Freedom, Natural Laws, Order
• Natural and Logical Consequences
• Physical Growth of a Child
• Power to Obey
• Responsibility and Self Discipline
• Sensitive Periods
And many, many more interesting issues …
What is more, Karen’s training course has another fabulous advantage. It allows you to meet people exactly like you who are eager to get to know philosophy of Maria Montessori a bit better. During my training course with Karen I met a unique group of people who are ready to support you and willing to share their experience and knowledge, their ups and downs, their doubts and their homeschooling or professional successes – such an experience cannot be underestimated ;-)
Upon completion of the entire course, you will receive a certificate that will say that you have completed a pre-primary training course (2-6 years old) by World Wide Montessori On-line and signed by Karen with her AMS notation.
Karen Tyler is an AMS trained pre-primary teacher with over 30 years of experience. For me, the most important aspects of Montessori philosophy (something that I wish to teach my kiddos) is child's independence and self-discipline - and I still do not exactly know how to do it... Maybe this is my chance to find out:)

Montessori is very special to me. It's like carefully and thoughtfully placed stepping stones to learning...that feel as though they were individually made to suit your child.
OdpowiedzUsuńWhat a great opportunity!!

I am a follower of your blog!!!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would love to learn more about Montessori because the kiddos are learning by exploring on their own. This is a student-centered environment rather than teacher-centered and being a high school math teacher, I would love to learn how to teach my toddlers using Montessori at home!
OdpowiedzUsuńI just posted about this on my facebook! Thanks!

This sounds wonderful! My youngest, however, is seven, so I don't think I could make as much use of it as your other readers, so I am not going to enter. It does look great, however!
OdpowiedzUsuńI think the best thing about the Montessori method is that children get the opportunity to explore and study in their own pace and their interests have the leading role in the learnig process.
OdpowiedzUsuńMaybe I will be lucky enough to win:)

OdpowiedzUsuńI´m not an expert, but a big fan of this method and I´m glad I´ve found people here in the blog-world, that share this passion with me. But what really cares is that my son has a chance to develop as best as he can, becouse this method gives him a chance to „grow up“ naturally, without an artificial intelligence of present world. This method worked at the time without plastic-electric-pseudo-education games already, so I think it works also today...

OdpowiedzUsuńDear Ewa,
OdpowiedzUsuńWhat a wonderful giveaway, thank you very much! ;-)
What do I find so special in Montessori? For me, it's just a very natural way of learning. I love the idea of my son becoming a more independent, sensitiv, yet strong person with great self-esteem, all that thanks to Montessori. Being a HS teacher myself, and having teached in different countries, I really appreciate this individualized approach, so different from one-suits-all programs found in schools.
Have a Montessori day everybody,

OdpowiedzUsuńWhat fascinates me most of Dr Maria Montessori is her deep love and respect for children and the fact that her findings and her philosophy seem to be timeless. She was able to see the world through a child's eyes.

I've heard about the Montessori method while my son was at the kinder creche. At that time being it was only a word for me. Than I found your blog and got interested in the "numbers' issues", which my son loves. I think what is great about this method is that it shows a great respect for the child itself and engages parents in child's develpment. Regards! I've been following your blog for maybe 3 months now...

Hi! I've just beginning our journey with Montessori. Maria Montessori (like our Janusz Korczak) looked at child as a being free individual person and a lot of her knowledge was learned from the observation, I try to learn this. It isn't easy. Our life is so fast. Even in homeschooling. And our (my) experience in school isn't helpfull to teach my own three children. The more I learn this method of education, the more fascinated I am. All system, order, arrangement, regularity and freedom works wonderfully with each other. Child has the freedom to explore using its creativity and imagination, and what's more (and the most important for me) discovers its own potential. It would be wonderful to participate in such training as is Karen Tyler's Montessori Training Program. I would like to be the lucky winner :)

lolo_666@rocketmail.com
I LOVE the Montessori method because it allows the kids to follow their own innate interests and drives to learn and explore, developing at their own speed in our such fast-paced life. Reading more about it has taken me to so many childhood memories and has truly become my spiritual parenting resource to raise my two young boys, both attending a local Montessori school. Dr.Montessori's observations and visions of education as a path for world peace are simply astounding! Can't express my admiration enough.

This sounds amazing. My two children (and future children) would definitely benefit from this. One of the reasons I love Montessori is because of the focus on "doing it myself." The pride and joy in a child's eyes when he "does it himself" is priceless.

I would absolutely LOVE to win this giveaway!!! I have been wanting to learn more about the Montessori method for years but can't afford the course. The manuals would help explain the activities in more detail for me. My 4 year old daughter would benefit tremendously if I won this course. Montessori learning creates independent learners the natural, encouraging way in a supportive environment. I love that the method is child-centered and based on the child's abilities and interests. Alyssa would have the freedom to explore learning concepts and to reach her potential. The pace and activities are individualized and aim for higher level academic achievements or thinking. I feel that Montessori is more advanced than what I have seen in the classroom. I would like the opportunity to not only learn about the methods but apply them to the lessons I use while homeschooling my daughter. If I by any chance return to the classroom then I will have gained even more knowledge to help with my teaching.
